litchi vs dronelink for waypoint missions ? anyone switched recently?

  • Members

so ive been using litchi for like 3 years now for all my waypoint stuff, mostly commercial mapping and some real estate video. it works fine but the interface is starting to feel really dated and i keep hearing people mention dronelink. not sure if its worth the learning curve and honestly the subscription pricing on dronelink looks a little steep depending on which tier you need.

main thing i care about is being able to plan missions on desktop, push them to the aircraft reliably, and have some decent camera control during the mission. also fly a mix of mini 3 pro and mavic 3 classic so compatibility matters. anyone actually made the switch or use both? is dronelink actually that much better or is it just the newer shiny thing

switched from litchi to dronelink about 8 months ago and honestly havent looked back. the mission hub on desktop is way more capable once you get your head around how it structures everything ? took me maybe a week of tinkering before it clicked. the camera control during waypoint missions is genuinely better, you can do stuff with focus and exposure ramping mid-flight that litchi just doesnt have. that said if youre doing basic mapping grids, litchi still works fine and you already know it so theres a real cost to switching even if the new tool is better on paper.

mavic 3 support on dronelink is solid in my experience. mini 3 pro i cant speak to directly.

i tried dronelink for a month on the free tier and it felt like a lot of the actually useful stuff was locked behind the paid plan. maybe thats changed. litchi also just got some updates a while back that people were sleeping on, the virtual litchi mission thing is still pretty useful for previewing routes. i dunno i think people overthink the software side of this when most of the time the bottleneck is just flying in bad light or wind anyway lol
