thinking about grabbing a prebuilt 5inch, torn between a few options

so ive been building my own quads for like 3 years now and honestly im just tired of the whole process. solder this, flash that, debug for 6 hours because one esc is acting weird. i just want something i can charge and go fly without a project every time

been looking at the iflight chimera7 and the dji avata 2 is obviously not in the running because i do freestyle not cinematic stuff. mainly considering the nazgul evoque f5 v2 and also seen some people talking about the geprc mark5 hd. budget is around 350-400 shipped

my main thing is i dont want to spend another 2 weekends retuning after every crash. i know youre always gonna do some maintenance but is the stock tune on these actually flyable or do they all need a full betaflight overhaul the second you get them

flying mostly open fields, some light woods. running dji o3 already so thats the ecosystem im locked into

had the nazgul evoque f5 v2 for about 8 months and honestly the stock tune is... fine. like its not embarrassing but if youve been building your own stuff youre gonna feel the itch to go in and tighten it up within a week. the p and d terms felt a little soft out of the box for my liking, took maybe an hour to get it where i wanted. not a 6 hour rebuild situation though

the build quality is solid, motors havent given me issues, frame has taken some decent hits. i replaced one arm after a concrete encounter but thats expected. for the price its genuinely hard to complain. o3 integration is clean too, no weird latency quirks i noticed

havent flown the geprc mark5 so cant compare directly but i know a guy at my local field who runs one and he seems happy with it. different vibe though, slightly heavier i think

the mark5 hd is what i got and tbh the tune out of the box was better than i expected but i still went in after like the third flight. once you fly your own tune you kind of cant go back to someone elses settings you know. that said it wasnt BAD, just wasnt mine

one thing worth mentioning, the stock props on mine felt mediocre. swapped to hqprop 5.1x3x3 and it made more difference than any pid adjustment honestly. might be worth trying that before you go deep into betaflight
