theres been a bunch of stuff floating around on youtube and a couple of the bigger drone sites about what the Mavic 4 is supposedly going to look like and im genuinely not sure what to believe. some of the leaked stuff sounds almost too good, like a one inch sensor on the main cam and supposedly a completely redesigned obstacle avoidance system that actually works in low light which would be huge. ive crashed my current drone twice now because apas just completely choked when the lighting got weird near sunset.

i dont want to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading but if half of what theyre saying is true it might actually be worth it. last time i got hyped about a DJI release i ended up waiting 6 months past the announced date anyway so who knows. anyone else been following this or have thoughts on whether the timing makes sense given what DJI has been dealing with on the regulatory side in the states

honestly i take all these pre-release leaks with a massive grain of salt at this point. remember all the stuff people were saying about the Air 3 before it came out and then half of it was wrong or exagerated. the one inch sensor rumor has been floating around for literally every DJI release for the past three years and it keeps not happening on the mid-range stuff. ill believe it when i see an official announcement.

the regulatory stuff is interesting though, theres definitely been pressure on DJI from the US side and i wouldnt be shocked if that affects release timing or even whether certain models make it to the american market at all. that whole situation is still pretty murky.

the low light obstacle avoidance thing would genuinely be a game changer if they pull it off, that's the one thing that's always bugged me about flying during golden hour. you basically have to turn it off or just accept that it's going to freak out every few seconds. been following a couple of the drone youtubers who usually get early access and none of them have said anything concrete yet so i think we're still a few months out from any real news
