been running an iFlight Nazgul5 for about a year and a half and its been pretty decent, had to replace one motor after a bad crash into concrete but otherwise no complaints. a buddy of mine swears by GEPRC and keeps saying their build quality is noticeably better but honestly when i look at the component lists they're both running similar motors, ESCs, flight controllers ? like the Mark5 and the Nazgul5 are not that different on paper.

is there actually something to the GEPRC hype or is it one of those things where people just get attached to whatever brand they bought first and defend it. genuinely asking because im looking at picking up a second quad for longer range cruising type flying and dont want to just rebuy the same thing in a different frame color basically

theyre honestly pretty comparable at this point. both source from similar factories for a lot of components and the real differentiator is usually just the frame design and how thoughtful the build layout is ? like wire routing, capacitor placement, that kind of thing. GEPRC does have a slightly better reputation for their customer support from what ive seen on reddit but ive never actually had to use either company's support so cant say from experience.

if youre looking for longer range cruising type stuff neither of those are really optimized for that anyway. might want to look at something with a proper GPS rescue setup baked in, or just build something around a 7 inch frame with a decent crossfire or ELRS setup. the prebuilt 5 inch stuff is really more optimized for punchy freestyle and racing gates than it is for cruisy longer range flying

had both. GEPRC frame tolerances felt slightly tighter to me when i was doing repairs, like the arm screws seated better and the stack fit wasnt as sloppy. could be confirmation bias though cause i paid more for it lol. iFlight's frame on my old Cidora cracked pretty clean on a hard arm impact which was actually nice ? easy to replace just that one arm. so theres that i guess.
