so ive been putting this off for like two years and finally signed up for a test date. im using the prepware app and watching some youtube stuff but honestly i feel like im drowning a little bit in the airspace stuff. like class b c d e g... i think i get the basics but the sectional chart reading is killing me. does the actual test have a lot of chart questions or is it more the rules and regs type stuff? also not sure how hard the weather section is gonna be, ive never really paid attention to METARs before lol

the sectional stuff was more than i expected honestly. like i thought id just need to know the airspace classes but they really do test you on reading the actual chart symbols, radio frequencies shown on charts, that kind of thing. i used Tony Northrup's study guide and the Sheppard Air app and felt pretty solid going in. METARs arent that bad once you just memorize the format, theres a cheat sheet someone posted on here a while back that breaks it down. the test itself felt fair, nothing super tricky, just make sure you know your weather minimums for each airspace class cold because those come up a lot.

i just passed mine like 3 weeks ago so this is fresh. honestly the chart reading was maybe like 6 or 7 questions out of 60 so not the majority but you still gotta know it. what helped me was just printing out a practice sectional and quizzing myself on random symbols. the weather section has TAFs and METARs but its not deep, more like can you read this and understand what conditions it describes. you got a month thats plenty of time, dont overthink it
