first time flying a drone tomorrow, any last minute advice for mini 2 se

  • Members

ok so i finally pulled the trigger and got a mini 2 se after like a year of going back and forth. batteries are charged, ive watched probably too many youtube videos at this point. im planning to go to a big open field near my house early morning when theres not many people around. honestly pretty nervous about losing it or crashing it on the first flight. anything you guys wish someone told you before your very first flight? also is there anything i should defintely do in the settings before i even take off

honestly the biggest thing is just take it slow and dont panic if it starts drifting a little, new pilots almost always overcorrect and that makes things worse. just let go of the sticks if youre unsure and it'll hold position. also set your return to home altitude before you fly, like make sure its higher than any trees or buildings nearby, that setting has saved a lot of people. and maybe do the first few flights in sport mode OFF, keep it in normal mode until you get a feel for it

i was in the exact same spot about 8 months ago lol. one thing nobody told me was to check the propellers are actually clicked in fully before you arm it, sounds obvious but i almost flew with one loose. also the mini 2 se doesnt have obstacle avoidance so just keep that in mind and stay away from trees especially on the way back when youre flying toward yourself and the orientation gets confusing
