yeah so this is embarrassing but i failed. scored a 68 which means i missed it by like two questions basically. i studied for probably 6 weeks using a couple different resources and felt pretty confident going in. the testing center was fine, nothing weird happened, i just apparently didnt know the material as well as i thought.

thing is i dont even really know where i went wrong because you dont get to see which questions you missed, just the score and some broad topic categories. it said i was weak in something like airspace and operations, which is vague enough to be almost useless. i know i can retake after 14 days but i want to actually fix whatever the problem is before i just go throw another $175 at it.

anyone else been through this or have advice on how to study differently the second time around

that sucks but honestly 68 is closer than it feels, its only 70 to pass right so youre not far off. the category breakdown they give you is frustrating i know but airspace and operations being flagged usually means the sectional chart reading or the airport operations stuff like runway markings, light signals, that kind of thing. those are very learnable, they just require drilling specific scenarios not just reading about them.

i would get prepware or even just the free ASA test prep app and do nothing but practice questions for two weeks, not reading, just questions and then looking up why you got each wrong one. thats the part people skip. they read the explanantion and move on but if you actually go back to the source material every time you miss something it sticks way better. you got this, 14 days is enough time to fill in the gaps if you're targeted about it

the $175 retake fee is brutal for what amounts to a multiple choice test but whatever. i passed mine first try but i had like a full month where i was doing 50 practice questions every single day without skipping a day. the repetition is really the only thing that works for the chart stuff. also one thing i dont see people mention much is the weather portion, METAR reading and understanding temporary flight restrictions, that stuff showed up more than i expected on my exam and a lot of people dont drill it enough because it seems like a smaller topic
