ok so i bought a DJI Mini 2 SE like two weeks ago and ive been too scared to fly it outside yet. i did the simulator thing in the app a few times but it feels nothing like what i imagine the real thing will be like. my main question is just... where do you even start. like do i just go to a park and hope for the best or is there some kind of process people go through when theyre learning. i dont want to crash it on the first flight obviously but i also cant afford to just let it sit in the box forever waiting until i feel ready because i feel like that day is never coming

also i registered it with the FAA already so thats done at least. do i need to do anything else before i fly or am i good

honestly the best thing you can do is just find a big empty field and go fly it. like a soccer field early in the morning when nobodys around or something. the Mini 2 SE has pretty solid obstacle avoidance and the return to home works well so youre not gonna lose it just from being nervous. first few flights just go up maybe 30 feet, hover for a bit, get a feel for how it responds to stick inputs. dont try to do anything fancy, just get comfortable with the basics. it feels way more natural after like 3 or 4 sessions i promise

and yeah FAA registration is all you need for that class, youre good to go

im pretty new too so take this with a grain of salt but what helped me was starting with the drone low to the ground, like literally 5 or 6 feet up, just flying circles and figure eights slowly. feels silly but your hands start to learn the controls without you even realizing it. also wind is way more of a factor than i expected so maybe check the forecast before you go, anything over like 10-12mph felt sketchy to me at first
