so ive been running a standard linear whip on my vtx for like 6 months, one of those little stubby ones that came with the speedybee stack, and just swapped it out for an aomway cloverleaf RHCP and honestly the difference is kinda wild? like i was getting breakup at maybe 150m before, now im pushing 300+ without any real issues. same vtx, same goggles, same flying spot.

my buddy keeps telling me antenna polarization doesnt matter that much at 200mw but i feel like he's wrong and now i have receipts basically. running dji o3 on my other quad so most of my analog experience is pretty limited but still. anyone else gone through this kind of upgrade or is there something else that could explain the improvement

your buddy is definitely wrong lol. mismatched polarization between tx and rx antenna is like one of the biggest reasons people get garbage range on analog setups. circular polarized on both ends is night and day vs linear, especially if you're flying anywhere near obstacles or doing any kind of proximity stuff where multipath is an issue. the cloverleaf is old tech at this point but it still works great. if you want to go further look into a lumenier axii on your goggles too, that combo is pretty much the standard for a reason.

wait so does this apply to the goggle antenna too or just the vtx side? i just got some fat shark recons and the antennas that came with them look kind of cheap, was wondering if i should replace them. also what does RHCP vs LHCP actually matter, do i need to match them exactly
