So ive had my Air 3 for about four months now and i mostly fly in pretty calm conditions but last weekend i was out at the coast and it got way windier than i expected. The drone was fighting pretty hard to hold position and i could see it working overtime in the telemetry, wind was probably gusting to like 25-28mph at points.

It held up fine honestly but i got nervous and brought it back early. DJI rates it for like 27mph sustained or something like that but im curious what people actually experience in the real world. Do you trust the spec sheet or do you have your own personal limit you stick to? I feel like ive been too conservative but then again id rather not find out the hard way.

The spec is wind resistance level 6 which is roughly 26-29mph, and in my experience its actually pretty honest for once. Ive flown mine in gusts that were probably touching 30 and it was fine, just looked a bit frantic trying to compensate. The bigger issue for me isnt whether it can handle the wind its whether the footage is gonna be any good ? above maybe 20mph sustained you start getting that weird micro jitter even with the stabilization doing its thing. So my practical limit is lower than the safety limit if that makes sense.

Coastal flying is its own thing too because the gusts are so unpredictable. Open field with steady wind is very different from cliff edges where it can just drop or spike randomly. Id rather be conservative there than at an inland spot.

yeah i had mine out in maybe 22mph and it was totally fine but the battery drain was noticeably faster, like i was getting significantly less flight time than usual. something to keep in mind if youre already flying far out and then the wind picks up.
