New Part 107 pilot here and I'm completely confused about the difference between no-fly zones and areas that need LAANC authorization. When I look at apps like B4UFLY, I see red zones, yellow zones, and blue zones - what does each one actually mean?

  • Can I fly in yellow zones with LAANC approval?
  • Are red zones always completely off-limits?
  • Do DJI geo-fencing restrictions override FAA approvals?

I have a real estate shoot scheduled in controlled airspace and want to make sure I understand this properly before requesting authorization.
