so ive been using litchi for probably two years now for all my waypoint stuff and honestly it works fine but i keep hearing people talking about dronelink like its some kind of revelation. my main use case is pretty boring ? i do a lot of grid missions for mapping and the occasional cinematic waypoint path where i want smooth camera movement between points.

the thing that actually has me considering switching is litchi hasnt had a meaningful update in forever and i genuinely dont know if its still being actively developed or if the devs just kind of abandoned it. the app still works but you get that feeling you know? like when software stops getting updates and you start wondering how long before something breaks after a firmware update.

has anyone actually switched from one to the other and noticed a real difference in the mission output? not looking for the feature comparison chart stuff i can google that, more like actual day to day experience with both

yeah litchi has felt pretty stale for a while, the last update that actually mattered was ages ago. i switched to dronelink maybe 8 months back and the learning curve is real ? the interface is not intuitive at all when you first open it. but once it clicks it is genuinely more powerful especially for anything involving conditional actions or more complex triggers mid-mission.

for straight grid mapping though honestly neither is what id reach for, i use WebODC with the mission planner for that and it integrates better with my post processing anyway. if youre doing serious mapping work its probably worth looking at that pipeline instead. dronelink for the cinematic stuff though, yeah its better than litchi for camera control once you figure out the focus tracks system.

dont sleep on the dronelink free tier either before you commit, you can actually build and run a decent number of missions without paying which is nice for testing if it fits your workflow. i tried it for about a month before subscribing and that was enough to know it was worth it for me
