ok so we had maybe 8 or 9 people out at the reservoir spot we use and it was going fine until two guys decided to race through the same gap at the same time without calling it. one of them clipped the other mid air and both went down in the water. one quad was completely toast, the other guy managed to fish his out and it actually still armed which was insane. nobody got hurt but the vibe got awkward for like an hour after that. we've been talking about doing a more formal thing where we actually call out what we're doing before we just yeet into a line. anyone do any kind of communication system for group flying or do you just kind of figure it out as you go

yeah we had something similar happen, not as dramatic but close enough. we just started using a simple callout system, basically whoever is about to fly a specific line just says it out loud and waits for a thumbs up from anyone else nearby. feels dumb at first but it actually works and people get used to it fast. the problem is getting everyone to actually do it consistently, always one guy who forgets

honestly suprised more people dont talk about this, group flying without any coordination is kind of asking for trouble especially when you get more than like 4 or 5 people in the air. some clubs have a designated frequency caller but thats more for racing events. for casual meetups i guess just making sure everyone knows each others general flight path helps. glad nobody got hurt at least, water retrievals are always a mess
