mini 4 pro firmware update bricked my RC2 controller??

  • Members

okay so this is stressing me out. pushed the latest firmware update last night through the DJI fly app, it updated both the drone and the RC2 controller, and now the controller boots to a black screen with the DJI logo and just hangs there. drone itself seems fine when i connect it to my phone over usb and check in assistant 2.

ive tried holding the power button for 15 seconds, tried the power + return to home button combo i found on some reddit post, nothing. the screen just sits there. it was on the most recent update before this one and everything was working perfectly.

anyone else hit this? im supposed to fly this weekend for a gig and im kind of freaking out a bit. already submitted a ticket to DJI but we all know how that goes. wondering if theres a manual reflash option somewhere that i dont know about

same exact thing happend to me back in the spring with my RC2, different firmware but same symptom. what worked for me was plugging it into a computer with DJI assistant 2 while holding the power button on the controller as you connect the cable ? it forces it into a recovery-ish mode and assistant 2 recognized it as needing a firmware restore. the software then let me reinstall the firmware fresh. took maybe 20 minutes and it came back fine.

make sure you're using a good cable tho, the first time i tried it with a janky cable it didn't even detect. also close the DJI fly app on your phone before doing any of this, having multiple things trying to talk to it at once seems to cause issues sometimes

this is exactly why i always wait like 2 weeks after a firmware drop before updating. let other people be the testers lol. hope you get it sorted before your gig, the assistant 2 recovery method the guy above mentioned is your best bet ? DJI support takes forever and they'll probably just tell you to send it in
