Just bought my first drone (DJI Mini 4K) after watching countless YouTube videos and I'm getting conflicting information about what I actually need to do legally. I read that if you're flying for recreation and the drone weighs less than 250 grams, you might not need a full pilot's license but still need to pass the TRUST safety exam and register with the FAA.
Some sources say drones under 250 grams don't require FAA registration for recreational use, and many beginner drones fall into this category. My drone weighs exactly 249g so I'm right on the line.
The regulations seem to change frequently and vary by country, so I want to make sure I'm checking the most current rules. What's the current requirement for someone like me just wanting to fly in my backyard and local park?
