EVO II keeps losing signal way sooner than it should??

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a while and im not sure if its my unit specifically or something people run into generally. flying the EVO II pro and signal starts getting choppy around 800 meters which feels way off for what this thing is supposed to do. i know the specs say way more range than that obviously. its not a legal thing i fly in open areas where there shouldnt be much interference.

checked the antennas on the controller and they look fine to me. firmware is updated. happens pretty consistently. any ideas what im missing here because im kind of at a loss

had something similar a while back ? turned out the antenna orientation on my controller was the issue, i was holding it with the antennas pointed kind of toward the drone instead of perpendicular and it made a surprising difference once i corrected it. sounds obvious but its easy to get sloppy with it especially if youre focused on flying. also worth checking if theres any wifi congestion in the area you're usually flying, even out in the open sometimes you're near enough to neighborhoods that 2.4ghz is a mess.

what channel is your controller set to? autel defaults to auto but ive had better luck manually setting it to 5.8 in open areas. the auto selection sometimes just picks the wrong one and stubbornly sticks with it. also i think there was a firmware version a few months back that people were having signal issues with, might be worth checking the autel forums specifically to see if theres a known thing with your version number
