our club group flight yesterday kind of went sideways

so we do this thing every other sunday where like 8 or 10 of us meet at the field and just fly together, been doing it for maybe six months. yesterday tho someone showed up with a brand new pilot who had literally never flown anything before, not even a sim, and they handed him a 3inch and just let him rip. guy panicked and it went into someones car. wasnt bad damage but the whole vibe was just off after that. now theres this whole thing about whether we should have like rules for new people or just keep it casual. honestly dont know where i land on it

yeah you kind of have to have some baseline expectations, not like a whole rulebook but just common sense stuff. we had something similar happen and we basically just said new people fly sims for at least a month before bringing anything real to the field. some people pushed back saying it wasnt a big deal but after something hits a car its hard to argue against it

honestly the person who handed a beginner a 3inch with no sim time is the one who should feel bad about that not the new guy. he didnt know any better. thats just irresponsible on the mentors part imo
