ok so i picked up a mini 3 pro like two weeks ago and ive been too scared to actually fly it outside yet. ive done a few laps around my living room which i know is dumb but i just dont want to crash it on the first real flight. its not cheap and i really dont know where to start. do i just go to a park and figure it out? do i need to register it first? i feel like everyone else already knows all this stuff and i missed some orientation or something. any advice appreciated, even just like where to start would help

honestly the registration thing depends where you are but in the US if its over 250g you gotta register with the FAA before you fly outdoors, its like $5 and takes ten minutes on the dronezone website. dont skip it, its not worth the headache if someone asks. as for actually learning to fly, find a big open field with no people around, ideally early morning when its quiet. start in sport mode off, just hover it like 4 feet up and get used to the sticks before you try anything fancy. the mini 3 is pretty stable so it wont fight you. also turn on the obstacle sensors if they arent already on, itll save you at least once i promise

living room practice isnt even that dumb tbh i did the same thing with my first one. just get outside, the drone wants to fly, thats what its made for. youll feel it the second you get some altitude and the gps locks in. just dont fly over people or near airports and youll be fine for casual stuff
