Air 3 vs Mini 4 Pro ? tried to figure this out and got more confused

  • Members

okay so i spent like two weeks reading reviews and watching youtube comparisons before buying my next drone and honestly i came out more confused than when i started. everyone has a different take and half the youtube guys are clearly just pushing affiliate links.

my situation is im not a beginner exactly, ive been flying a mavic air 2 for about two years and i want to upgrade. i do a mix of hiking footage, some casual real estate stuff for a friend occasionally, and just general travel stuff. budget is flexible but i dont want to spend money on things i dont need.

from what i can tell the Air 3 has dual cameras which sounds cool but in practice i wonder if ill actually use the tele lens that much. the Mini 4 Pro keeps the sub-250g thing which i know matters in some countries but here in the US i feel like it matters a bit less practically speaking. the image quality seems close enough that i cant really tell in most comparisons but maybe im not looking at the right things.

anyone made this jump from a mavic air 2 specifically or have real world thoughts on the dual camera situation, like do you actually use it regularly or is it just a nice to have that you forget about

came from an air 2s to the Air 3 and the tele lens thing ? i use it way more than i expected honestly. mostly for shots where i physically cant get closer, like wildlife stuff or compressing a landscape. its not like i use it every flight but when you need it its kind of invaluable and you'd be annoyed not having it. the 1/1.3 sensor on both cameras is also just really solid, night footage especially.

that said if weight and portability are a big deal the mini 4 pro is genuinely impressive for its size. i just personally dont find the sub 250g thing that meaningful for my flying so the Air 3 made more sense. really depends what you prioritize and theres no wrong answer here.

i went through this exact debate lol. ended up with the mini 4 pro mostly because of price and honestly for hiking the lighter kit just makes sense, every gram matters when youre already carrying a pack. the footage has been really good and i have zero regrets but i do sometimes wish i had a tele option when im out there. its like one of those things where you dont miss it till you want it. if i was doing more real estate work id probably have gone Air 3 for the versatility.
