DJI FPV goggles v2 with Avata ? anyone else get motion sickness the first few weeks

  • Members

so ive been flying the Avata for about a month now and the first two weeks were rough. like genuinely felt nauseated after every session even with just 10-15 minutes in the goggles. i was flying mostly in normal mode because i was scared to touch manual obviously, but even the smooth stabilized footage was making my stomach turn.

talked to a few people locally and they said its common and just goes to take time. they werent wrong i guess because around week three something clicked and now i can do 45+ minute sessions no problem. but i'm curious if anyone has tips they wish they'd known earlier, like whether brightness settings or the IPD adjustment made a difference for them. i feel like i had my IPD slightly off for the first week and that probably made it worse

yeah the IPD thing is huge and nobody talks about it enough. spent my first few sessions wondering why i felt off and it turned out i just measured wrong. theres a simple test where you hold a card at arms length and close each eye alternately, i dont remember the exact method but google it and it takes 2 minutes. once i got that dialed the experience was totally different. also try reducing the brightness on the goggles, i run mine around 60% and it seems to help with eye fatigue which i think contributes to the nausea indirectly.

had the exact same thing. i think part of it is also just your brain needing to learn that the motion it's seeing isnt actual motion your body is doing. i read something about this, its called vection or something. short sessions in the beginning honestly helped me more than trying to push through it. also flying in open spaces where there arent a ton of things rushing past the camera peripheral made a difference early on
