ok so my range on the FPV drone has been fine, like i'm not pushing legal limits or anything, but i've been reading about people doing antenna mods and getting noticeably better signal in urban environments with interference. i fly mostly in a semi-suburban area and sometimes get the occasional dropout warning even at like 400 meters which seems wrong.

someone on reddit mentioned replacing the stock antennas on the goggles v2 with aftermarket pagoda or lollipop style antennas and said it helped a lot. but then someone else said the stock system is already well tuned and messing with it can cause more problems than it solves. im not an RF engineer obviously so i have no idea who to believe. the drone itself is still under the one year so i dont want to void anything if it wont actually help

the dropouts at 400m in a suburban area sounds more like a line of sight issue or local 5.8ghz interference than an antenna problem honestly. before modding anything i'd try switching the OcuSync channel manually rather than letting it auto select. auto mode sometimes latches onto a congested channel and just stays there. also check if theres a wifi router or other 5ghz device nearby when youre flying, that stuff can absolutely cause what you're describing

I did the lollipop mod on my v2 goggles about six months ago. honestly the difference in my specific situation was noticeable but I fly a lot in a area with a ton of apartment buildings so there's RF garbage everywhere. if you're in a more open suburban place i'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze especially if you're worried about warranty stuff. the mod itself isnt that hard, its just soldering and knowing which connector type you need (u.fl), but yeah if its borderline whether its even your problem then maybe troubleshoot the channel thing first like the other guy said
