group flights are kind of a mess tbh

so i finally went to one of those organized group flight things my local club does every few months and idk, maybe my expectations were off. half the people were standing around talking and not really flying, which fine whatever, but then when everyone did go up at the same time it felt really chaotic and nobody seemed to be communicating about altitudes or anything. im probably overthinking it and i get that its casual but we had like 12 aircraft up at once at one point and i was genuinely a little nervous. do other clubs actually coordinate this stuff or is it always kind of just vibes

yeah the good clubs have someone acting as a de facto flight director even at casual events, just someone calling out roughly what altitudes people are planning to use and keeping an eye on how many birds are up. sounds like yours just hasnt figured that out yet. worth suggesting it honestly, most people would probably appreciate having even a loose system

12 aircraft up at once with no coordination does sound sketchy ngl. the group i fly with has an informal rule where if youre going above like 200ft you just say something out loud before you go up. its not a hard rule but it helps. also half the fun for me IS just standing around talking about gear so dont knock that part haha
