been going back and forth on this for probably longer than i should admit. i do a mix of real estate, some travel stuff for my own projects, and occasional event work. the variable aperture on the Pro is really appealing but i keep second guessing myself because the 8K resolution sounds impressive on paper even though i know thats not really how you should be choosing a camera drone.

the price difference isnt massive right now which is making it harder to decide tbh. if anyone has shot with both or even just used one extensively i'd really appreciate hearing what you actually think rather than just the spec sheet stuff, i can read that anywhere. specifically curious about low light performance and whether the 6K on the Pro actually resolves more usable detail than the 8K Sony sensor in real world use. the internet has a lot of opinions but not a lot of side by side actual footage comparisons that are recent

I had the EVO II 8K for about eight months before selling it and getting the Pro version. Honestly the 8K sounds better than it performs ? the Sony sensor is decent but you're not getting clean 8K footage in any meaningful way unless conditions are perfect and you're doing very slow movements. The compression at that bitrate was doing some ugly things in high contrast scenes for me.

The Pro with the variable aperture is just more practical. Being able to dial in exposure without relying entirely on NDs is a game changer for run and gun stuff, and the low light is noticeably cleaner. For real estate the Pro makes way more sense in my opinion. The only reason I'd say look at the 8K is if you're cropping heavily in post or delivering to a client who specifically asks for it, which almost never happens in my experience.

i dont have the 8K but i've had the Pro for about a year now and for real estate its been really solid. the variable aperture thing does take some getting used to because you get diffraction if you stop down too far but once you know the sweet spot its great. around f/5.6 to f/8 is where mine looks sharpest. the Autel app has gotten better with updates too, it was pretty rough when i first got it
