so ive been using litchi for probably 3 years now and honestly its fine but i keep hearing people talk about dronelink and im not sure if its worth the hassle of switching over all my waypoint missions. the main thing i do is long linear surveys, powerlines and stuff like that, so im not doing anything super complex but i do need reliable altitude control and the ability to import from external sources.

litchi has been mostly solid but there was this one firmware update a few months back (i think it was around the mini 4 pro rollout) where everything just broke for like 2 weeks and i couldnt fly a single automated mission. had to postpone a job. that kind of thing makes me nervous about being locked into one platform.

does dronelink handle DJI's sdk restrictions any better or is it the same situation where whenever DJI pushes something out you're just sitting there hoping the devs catch up fast enough

switched from litchi to dronelink about a year ago and honestly the transition wasnt as bad as i expected. the mission format is totally different so you cant just import your old litchi missions but if your stuff is in KML or CSV you can work with it. the altitude modes in dronelink are actually more granular which i like for the kind of work you're describing.

on the SDK thing though, yeah its basically the same situation across the board. dronelink was actually faster to patch after that same update you're talking about, maybe a week vs litchi's two weeks but still, you're at DJI's mercy either way. theres no getting around that unless you go the ardupilot route and then you're dealing with a whole different set of headaches.

i use both depending on the drone tbh. litchi for my older mavic stuff, dronelink for newer hardware. dronelink's interface takes some getting used to, its not as intuitive out of the box but once it clicks its pretty powerful. the focus track options are way better if you ever do any automated cinematic stuff on the side.
