DJI RC2 firmware bricked my color profiles??

  • Members

okay so this has been bugging me for a while and i finally have time to post about it. pushed the latest firmware on my air 3 and RC2 controller last week and now my D-Log M profiles are just gone from the camera menu. like the option is still there but when i select it and go to record the footage comes out looking nothing like D-Log M, its way more contrasty and the highlights are clipping in situations where they definitley werent before.

at first i thought maybe i was doing something wrong in post but ive been grading D-Log M footage for like 8 months so i know what it should look like going into resolve. pulled up some old clips and yeah, the new stuff looks completely different even before i touch anything. tried resetting camera settings, didnt help. anyone else seeing this or is it just me

also unrelated but does anyone know if there's a way to roll back firmware on the RC2 specifically, i know you can sometimes do it with older controllers but the RC2 seems locked down

yeah i saw a couple people mention something similar over on the DJI forums but no official response yet. my guess is they tweaked the tone mapping in the ISP pipeline without documenting it, wouldnt be the first time. the actual log curve might technically be the same but if they changed how the sensor data gets processed before it hits that curve you'd see exactly what you're describing.

rollback on the RC2 is basically impossible without some pretty sketchy third party tools and i wouldnt risk it personally. best bet is probably just wait for the next update and hope they notice. or file a bug report directly, i actually had DJI respond to one of those once which surprised me

are you shooting in 4K or higher res when this happens? i ask because i had a weird thing with my mini 3 pro where the log profile behaved differently at different resolutions after an update and it turned out to be some weird interaction with the electronic shutter mode. probably not the same issue but worth checking if you havent already messed around with that
