so i binned my 5inch pretty hard into a tree last weekend and snapped two motors, m2 and m3 if you're looking at it from the top. got replacement 2306 2450kv motors on the way and im pretty sure i know how to swap them but ive been second guessing myself on the spin direction thing. i know its cw/ccw alternating in an x pattern but i keep mixing up which corner is which when the quad is upside down on my desk which is how you have to work on it obviously.

also do i need to recalibrate ESCs after replacing motors or does it just kinda work if the new ones are the same kv? i didnt change anything in betaflight last time i swapped a motor and it seemed fine but that was a while ago and i dont fully remember if i did something and forgot

okay so looking from the top ? front left and rear right spin clockwise, front right and rear left spin counter. easy way to remember is the props that thread on normally (righty tighty) go on the CCW motors and the ones with the reverse thread go on CW. if you try to arm it and one motor is wrong betaflight will just yell at you about it in the motors tab anyway, you can check spin direction there before you even put props on.

ESC recalibration ? honestly with BLHELI_32 or most modern 4in1 setups you dont need to redo anything. the ESC talks to the FC over dshot and theres no analog calibration step. if you were running old analog PWM signal stuff then maybe but you're probably not.

just dont forget to check the motor screws actually go into the bell and not straight through into the windings lol. i did that once with slightly too long m3 screws and completely trashed a brand new motor before i even flew it. use 6mm max on most 2306s
