so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i cant make up my mind. my budget is around 800 bucks and i keep landing on either the Nano+ or the Lite+ but honestly the spec sheets dont really help me figure out which one is better for someone just starting out. i mostly want to shoot video at local parks, maybe some hiking trails, nothing crazy.

the Nano+ seems more portable which is nice because i do hike a lot but the Lite+ has that bigger sensor and i keep reading that sensor size matters way more than anything else for video quality. is the weight difference actually that noticeable when youre out on a trail? also i read somewhere that the Nano+ doesnt have obstacle avoidance on all sides, just forward and downward? not sure if thats still accurate or if they updated that.

anyone here flown both or at least one of them for a while ? would love some real world thoughts not just what the autel website says

had the Lite+ for about eight months now and honestly its a solid drone especially for the money. the image quality coming off that 1/1.28 inch sensor is really good in low light which surprised me, i didnt expect much from a drone in that price range. if youre hiking though the size might get annoying after a few miles, its not huge but its not exactly pocket friendly either.

the Nano+ i only flew once at a friends place but it felt very capable for its size. if weight and packability are genuinely important to you i'd lean that direction. the sensor is smaller yeah but honestly for social media or just personal use youre not gonna be sitting there wishing you had more dynamic range. both fly really smooth with the autel sky app, havent had any major complaints there. one thing i will say ? make sure your phone is compatible before you buy, had a buddy run into issues with an older android.

i went with the Nano+ as my first drone a few months back and dont regret it. the obstacle avoidance thing you mentioned ? its pretty limited yeah, i wouldnt rely on it too heavily anyway, you still gotta pay attention. its a great starter drone imo
