EVO II Pro keeps losing connection mid flight, no idea whats going on

  • Members

this has been happening for a few weeks now and its driving me crazy. mid flight ? not even that far out, maybe 300 meters ? the video feed just cuts and the drone goes into return to home. it comes back fine every time so at least thats working but i cant figure out why its losing signal in the first place. im in a pretty open area, no buildings or anything obvious that would cause interference.

ive updated the firmware, recalibrated the compass, checked the antennas on the controller and they look fine to me. batteries are healthy, i check them before every flight. honestly i'm running out of ideas. could it be interference from something on the ground? theres a cell tower maybe half a mile away but that always been there and this just started happening recently. anyone dealt with something like this on the EVO II?

check if there's been any new wifi networks popping up near your flying spot, sometimes a new router or hotspot on a congested channel can mess with the 2.4ghz signal even outdoors. also worth checking what frequency band your controller is using and if you can switch it. the EVO II controller should let you toggle between 2.4 and 5.8ghz ? if youre on 2.4 and theres a lot of interference around try switching to 5.8, range drops a bit but the connection is usually more stable in cluttered RF environments.

also a long shot but check the micro usb or usbc connection between your phone and the controller if youre using one for the video feed. had a flaky cable cause all kinds of weird issues that looked like signal problems but were actually just a bad connection to the phone.

had somethign similar on my EVO II a while back, turned out one of the antenna connectors inside the controller had come slightly loose. not something i noticed visually from outside, had to actually open it up. might be worth contacting autel support too, they were actually pretty responsive when i had an issue, better than i expected honestly.
