okay so this happened last weekend and i still cant fully believe it. was flying along a creek doing some shots of the autumn colors, got distracted checking the footage on my phone and basically just flew it straight into the water. like not a crash, just... gently descended into the river because i wasnt paying attention. it was maybe 2 feet of water, not fast moving or anything.

ran in (ruined my shoes, whatever), grabbed it probably 15 seconds after it went in. dried it off with my shirt, took the battery out immediately, let it sit in my bag with a silica gel packet i happened to have for like 4 hours. got home, left it in front of a fan overnight and by next morning it powered on and flew totally fine. the gimbal does this weird little stutter when it first initializes now but after a few seconds its fine and the footage looks normal.

not saying this is gonna work for everyone obviously and i know DJI doesnt warranty water damage. just kind of shocked it survived at all. has anyone else had something like this happen and should i be worried about the gimbal thing going forward or is that probably just residual weirdness from the water.

haha glad it made it, these things are tougher than they look sometimes. the gimbal stutter on startup is a little concerning though honestly ? id keep an eye on it over the next few weeks. what sometimes happens with water damage is that corrosion builds up slowly on the contacts and things start failing weeks later once oxidation sets in. might be worth pulling the gimbal ribbon area and giving it a very careful look if youre comfortable opening it up, or just send it to DJI for an inspection before it gets worse. the fly more warranty wont cover it but their out of warranty repair is usually reasonable.

ive heard of this happening before with the Air 2 not the 2S but similar enough. rice is apparently kind of a myth for drying electronics, silica gel and airflow is definitely the right call so you did good there. the gimbal thing would bug me personally, even if its minor now it could be a sign that somethings slightly corroded on the motor. id probably just fly it a bunch and see what happens before spending money on a repair that might not be necessary yet lol
