so ive been at it for about a month now, flying my drone maybe 2 or 3 times a week when the weather cooperates. i feel like im still pretty shaky and my footage looks like someone handed a camera to a nervous dog. people keep posting these smooth cinematic shots and i genuinely dont understand how they do it, like is that all just post processing or are they actually flying that smoothly in real time.

i guess my question is how long until things start to click? or is some people just never gonna get smooth with it no matter how much they practice

honestly a month is nothing, dont get discouraged. the smooth stuff you see online is usually a combination of things ? slow deliberate stick movements, flying in modes that limit the speed, and yeah often some post stabilization in premiere or whatever. most people aren't just freehanding silky smooth orbits on day one. took me probably 3-4 months before i stopped wincing at my own footage.

one thing that helped me was slowing everything way down in the settings. like artificially limit your max speed so even if you slam the stick it doesnt do anything dramatic. flies boring as hell but you build muscle memory for gentle inputs.

the cinematic stuff on youtube is also heavily edited tbh. i know a guy who makes really nice looking videos and he told me he'll fly the same shot like 15 times and just use the one that worked. you're comparing your behind the scenes to someone else's highlight reel basically. that said yeah practice helps, i think the clicking moment for me was when i stopped thinking about the controls and started thinking about where i wanted to go instead
