so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i cant make up my mind. i mostly shoot hiking footage, some landscape stuff, nothing crazy cinematic. my budget is pretty tight so im trying to figure out if the Nano+ is good enough or if i should stretch a bit for the Lite+. the sensor size difference is obviously the big thing everyone talks about but in real world use does it actually matter that much for someone who isnt doing paid work?

also i keep reading about the orange mode on the Nano+ and honestly i dont totally understand what you can and cant do with it in the US. like is it actually usable or is it basically just a selling point that doesnt work out in practice. any real experience with either of these would be super helpful, ive watched like every youtube comparison and they all feel like sponsered content honestly

had the Nano+ for about eight months and honestly for hiking footage it does the job really well. the 1/1.28 inch sensor is no joke for that size of drone, low light is where you start to notice the ceiling though ? anything past golden hour gets grainy faster than i expected. never used the Lite+ personally but a guy in my local club has one and side by side the color rendition on the Lite is noticeably better in tricky lighting conditions.

the orange mode thing is kind of a pain honestly. it does work but you have to be on top of your flight planning, its not like you can just take off wherever. if youre mostly hiking in national forests or open areas you might hit more restrictions than you think. still, for the price its a solid little drone and the obstacle avoidance is way better than i expected at that price point

i went with the Lite+ and dont regret it but i also kind of wish id tried the Nano first because the portability difference is real. the Lite+ is noticeably bigger to pack. for landscape stuff the variable aperture on the Lite+ is genuinely useful not just a spec sheet thing, you can actually see the difference when you're shooting at different times of day
