EVO II randomly losing video feed mid flight, not sure whats going on

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a while and its starting to stress me out a bit. flying my EVO II and maybe 200-300 meters out the video feed just drops, drone keeps flying fine i can still control it but the screen on the smart controller goes black or goes to static. comes back after like 10-15 seconds sometimes, sometimes i just have to bring it back in. doesnt happen every flight which makes it harder to figure out.

ive updated the firmware, tried a different location thinking it was interference, doesnt seem to make a difference. the controller itself is fully charged when i go out. not sure if this is a known issue or if somethings actually wrong with my unit. been flying it for about a year with no problems and this just started a couple months ago

check the antenna connections on the aircraft itself if you havent already. i had something similar and it turned out one of the antenna cables inside had worked itself a little loose, probably from vibration over time. its not a difficult fix but you have to open it up which voids warranty if thats still a concern for you. also worth checking if there are any obvious physical signs on the body, mine had a tiny hairline crack near one of the antenna mounts that i almost missed

also what firmware version are you on? there was a stretch where a few versions had video link stability issues and autel was pretty slow to acknowledge it. might be worth checking the autel forum or their facebook group because people were documenting specific version numbers that were problematic

random thought but have you tried it in a different frequency band if your controller lets you switch? 2.4 vs 5.8 can make a big difference depending on whats going on in your area, some areas have gotten way more congested in the last year or so with all the wifi stuff. probably not the main issue since you said location didnt matter but worth ruling out i guess
