honest thoughts on the mini 4 pro after about 6 months of actual use

so ive had the mini 4 pro since basically launch and figured id share some real thoughts now that the honeymoon phase is well and truly over. everyone does reviews in the first two weeks when theyre still excited and honestly those arent super useful

the good stuff first ? obstacle avoidance is genuinely impressive for the price point, way better than i expected coming from the mini 3. the omnidirectional sensing has saved me a few times when i was flying in places i probably shouldnt have been, not gonna lie. footage quality is excellent, the log modes give you a lot to work with in post

but here's what nobody really talks about ? the battery life in cold weather is rough. like really rough. im in the PNW and we've had some cold mornings and i'm getting maybe 18-20 minutes when the box says 34. also had one weird flyaway-ish moment where it just drifted for a second before reconnecting, only happened once but it freaked me out enough to mention

would i buy it again? probably yeah. but i wouldnt say its a massive upgrade if you already have a mini 3 pro. if youre coming from older hardware or a different brand it makes more sense. anyway curious if anyone elses battery is suffering in the cold or if thats just me

the cold weather battery thing is real, I noticed the same thing with my mini 3 pro and its gotten worse with the 4. I think its just lithium batteries being lithium batteries honestly, not really a DJI specific problem. what i do now is keep the batteries in an inside pocket until like the last minute before i swap them in and it helps a bit. not a fix but it takes the edge off

on the flyaway thing ? i had one weird moment too, only once, and i chalked it up to some interference near a cell tower. probably nothing but yeah its unsettling when it happens. glad it reconnected for you

this is actually super helpful, im trying to decide between the mini 4 pro and waiting to see if anything interesting comes out later this year. the battery thing is a bummer to hear about though bc i also live somewhere cold (canada lol). does the active track work pretty well? thats the main thing i want it for, filming myself skiing
