so ive been building my own quads for like 4 years now and honestly im just tired of it. the soldering, the troubleshooting random ESC gremlins, spending 3 hours on betaflight just to get it flying acceptable. i want something i can just charge and fly without a weekend of work first.

been looking at the iFlight Nazgul and the Diatone Roma F5 mostly, but honestly the prebuilt market has changed so much i dont even know whats considered good right now. last prebuilt i touched was an older BNF setup that flew like garbage out of the box and i had to basically retune everything anyway so it kind of defeated the purpose.

is there a 5inch prebuilt these days that actually flies decent without touching the tune? or is that still wishful thinking. budget is probably around 250-300 shipped, freestyle not racing.

the Nazgul Evoque F5 V2 is probably what you want, iFlight has gotten a lot better about their stock tunes compared to a few years ago. its not perfect but its close enough that most people just fly it without touching anything. i gave mine maybe 20 minutes in betaflight adjusting master multiplier and filtering a bit and it felt really good. the build quality is solid too, havent had any random failures and ive put it through some rough stuff.

the Roma is also decent but i found the motors run a little hotter stock, could just be my unit though. if youre doing freestyle and not worried about absolute efficiency the Nazgul is probably the easier recommendation right now at your budget.

honestly same boat as you, switched to prebuilts about a year ago and dont regret it at all. i went with the Diatone and it flew fine day one but i did tweak the rates pretty heavily because the defaults felt super slow to me. the actual tune underneath though was fine, no propwash issues or anything weird. i think the era of prebuilts flying like junk is mostly over, at least in that price range.
