so ive been planning this trip to Iceland for like 8 months and obviously bringing the mini 4 pro. but im getting a bit nervous about the rules there, ive heard its pretty strict in some areas especially around national parks. anyone actually flown there recently and can tell me what its actually like on the ground vs what the official rules say

also the wind situation, like i know its Iceland so obviously its gonna be rough but how bad are we actually talking. had my drone nearly get away from me in Scotland last year and that was not fun

went in september last year, wind is absolutely no joke. i had maybe 3-4 good flying days out of 10 and i was checking windy.com obsessively every morning. the national park restrictions are real, ?ingvellir is basically a no-fly zone, dont even bother trying. but outside of those areas honestly it was fine, nobody stopped me or anything. just download the ?savia app or check their website before you go anywhere, it has a map of all the restricted zones

the light is insane though, if you get a clear day around the golden hour which lasts like 3 hours straight the footage is just ridiculous. worth every bit of the hassle

not been to Iceland specifically but for windy conditions in general i switched to sport mode when it gets bad which helped a lot, just means you're burning through battery way faster. also make sure your return to home altitude is set high enough, some of those landscapes have really weird elevation changes
