okay this has been bugging me for a while and i keep getting inconsistent results. running mapping missions over a pretty flat site, industrial yard about 40 acres, and the point clouds keep coming out with these weird gaps and stitching artifacts in one corner of the site specifically. the rest of it looks fine.

im flying at 120m AGL with 80/75 overlap front/side, GSD works out to about 2.8cm which should be more than enough for what the client needs. processing in Pix4Dmapper and the quality report shows medium to high confidence across most of the area but that one corner always tanks. its not a featureless area either, theres equipment and structures there so its not like the software has nothing to work with.

i thought maybe it was a sun angle thing causing glare off some of the metal roof panels but ive flown it at different times and still get the same corner being problematic. any ideas before i go back out there again

check if there's any wind shadow or if the copter is doing anything weird on that leg of the mission ? sometimes if you're fighting wind on a particular pass the camera trigger timing gets slightly off and you end up with effective overlap that's lower than what you planned. i had something similar over a warehouse complex and it turned out my actual captured overlap in the problem area was like 62% instead of the 80% i programmed because the aircraft was moving faster over the ground on downwind legs and the trigger interval didnt compensate fast enough.

also worth looking at the image quality table in the Pix4D report for those specific images ? if some of them are flagged yellow or red for sharpness thats your culprit right there and you might just need to slow the mission down a bit

could be a GCP thing if youre using them. i had a project a while back where one of my GCPs had a bad coordinate and Pix4D was basically warping the whole model trying to reconcile it, made one section look absolutely terrible. ended up just removing that point and reprocessing and it cleared right up. might not be your issue but worth checking the residuals on your GCPs if you have them placed near that corner
