Motor Replacement on DJI Air 2S - Wire Colors Don't Match

  • Members

Replacing a motor on my Air 2S after crash damage. Got the replacement motor but need to confirm it has the correct rotation direction - motors are designated CW or CCW and installing wrong will cause flip on takeoff.

The confusing part is the wire colors. Brushless motors have three phase wires usually colored or labeled A, B, C, and on many consumer drones these connect via small plug connector. My original motor had red/black/white wires, but the replacement has blue/yellow/green. Both are supposed to be CCW motors from the same supplier.

Question: Does wire color actually matter for motor direction, or is it determined by the internal winding configuration? I know switching any two motor wires around will reverse the motor spin direction, but want to make sure I get this right the first time.
