DJI Mavic 4 Pro ? anyone actually excited or is this getting overhyped

  • Members

so the leaks and rumors have been going around for a few weeks now and i keep seeing people on reddit and here getting really worked up about the Mavic 4 Pro. some of the specs floating around sound genuinely interesting ? the sensor stuff especially ? but ive been burned before getting hyped up for a release that then ends up being like a 10% improvement over what i already have and costs 400 bucks more.

bought the Mavic 3 Pro last year and honestly its been great. like genuinely great. so part of me is wondering if theres any world where upgrading makes sense this soon or if its just GAS (gear acquisition syndrome, for anyone new here) doing its thing again.

curious what people actually think, like people who have been flying for a while and can cut through the marketing noise. is there anything about this generation jump that seems like a real step forward or is it more of the same thing with a new name on it

if you just got the Mavic 3 Pro last year honestly there is almost no scenario where upgrading makes financial sense unless youre doing paid work and a specific feature directly affects your deliverables. the jump from gen to gen in this price bracket has been getting smaller every cycle. the original Mavic Pro to the Mavic 2 Pro was a massive leap. Mavic 2 to Mavic 3 was solid. 3 to 4 based on whats rumored... i dunno, well see. the hasselblad branding situation and the sensor size talk is intriguing but i'd wait for real world footage before making any decisions.

also DJI has been weirdly quiet about it officially which either means the leaks are premature or theyre holding annoucnement for a specific event. either way id pump the brakes.

honestly i get what youre saying but i am a little excited ngl. the rumored improvements to the obstacle avoidance and the possibility of a larger main sensor is what has my attention. i do a lot of low light stuff for real estate twilight shoots and my current setup works but i always feel like im right at the edge of what the sensor can handle before noise becomes a problem.

that said yeah you probably shouldnt upgrade from a 3 Pro after a year. thats just not a reasonable move unless money genuinely doesnt matter to you. for someone coming from a Mini or an older Mavic though this could be a big deal depending on what the final specs actually are.
