just got my first drone and have no idea what im doing

so i bought a DJI mini 3 like two weeks ago and i honestly have no idea where to even start. ive watched a bunch of youtube videos but they all seem to assume you already know stuff. like whats the difference between attitude mode and the normal mode it comes in? and do i really need to register it or is that only for heavier drones

also every time i take off it just kind of drifts a little to the left and i dont know if thats a calibration thing or if thats just normal and i have to correct for it manually. my main goal is just to fly around my backyard and maybe get some decent footage of my dog running around, nothing crazy

sorry if this is a dumb question i just dont really know where to start

not a dumb question at all, everyone starts here. the drift is almost definitely just wind or it needs a compass calibration, open the DJI fly app and it should walk you through it if it thinks you need one. also for the registration thing ? if the mini 3 is under 249g you're in the clear in most places but you should double check based on where you actually are because it varies

for modes just leave it in normal mode for now honestly. sport mode is fun but you'll crash way faster and attitude mode is kind of an advanced thing, dont worry about it yet. just fly, get comfortable hovering in one spot, then start doing slow figure 8s or something. takes a while before it feels natural

the drifting thing bugged me forever when i started. turned out i just needed to let it sit and get a GPS lock before i took off, i was always in a hurry and launching before it was ready. once i started waiting for it to show like 10+ satellites or whatever it stopped doing that almost completely
