how long does it actually take to get good at flying

been flying my little beginner drone for about a month and i still feel like im fumbling around. not crashing or anything but i watch videos of people doing smooth cinematic shots and i feel like im nowhere close to that. is there like a timeframe people usually talk about where it starts clicking or is this just one of those things that takes forever

i fly in a big open field near my house maybe twice a week, usually for like 20-30 minutes before the battery dies. i feel like im getting a tiny bit better but its hard to tell honestly. should i be doing specific drills or just keep flying around

drills help way more than just flying around aimlessly, at least in my experience. like pick a specific thing and just do that for the whole battery ? orbiting around a single object, or flying perfectly straight lines, or just holding a hover in a crosswind. doing random stuff is fine early on but you plateau pretty fast if you dont push yourself on specific skills

also two months into flying i was still pretty choppy. six months in it started feeling more instinctive. a year in i actually started liking my footage. so yeah dont stress too much about where you are at one month

honestly i think the cinematic stuff is less about stick control and more about learning to see shots before you fly them if that makes sense. like i can fly fine now but i still get boring footage because im not thinking about the shot ahead of time. theres some simulator app i used for a bit too, cant remember which one, but flying in a sim for even 30 min a day when you cant get outside does actually help with muscle memory
