my quad just doesnt feel right for freestyle, something is off with the tune

so ive been flying my 5inch for about 6 months now and i can pull off basic stuff like split s and juicy flow lines but whenever i try to do snap rolls or anything that requires quick inputs the quad just feels... mushy? like it responds but not crispy enough. running betaflight 4.4 and i messed with the rates a bit but honestly i dont really know what im doing in the configurator. master multiplier is at like 1.2 and i feel like maybe my pids are just off. friend told me to lower D but last time i touched D it started oscillating on fast descents so i just left it. anyone had this kind of thing before

yeah that mushy feeling on snaps is almost always rates not pids tbh. try bumping your expo up, like if your roll expo is under 0.5 push it to 0.6 or even higher and see if that sharpens up the center without making it twitchy at the edges. also what motors you running and what props? some combos just dont like aggressive snap inputs no matter what you do in BF

im kinda in the same boat lol been messing with my tune for like 3 weeks and i feel like every time i fix one thing something else breaks. someone told me to try a Juse or UAV Tech tune as a baseline and work from there instead of trying to build from scratch. havent done it yet but probably gonna try this weekend
