Been doing weekly progress shots on this big commercial build and im getting inconsistent results when theres heavy equipment casting shadows across the site. DroneDeploy seems to struggle more with the shadow areas but maybe im not processing it right? Anyone have experience with both platforms on construction mapping? The GC wants really clean orthomosaics for the reports and some of these are coming out pretty patchy in the shadowed sections

pix4d definitely handles shadows better in my experience but youre gonna pay for it. i switched from dronedeploy about 8 months ago and the difference is pretty noticeable especially if you have a lot of vertical structures. the processing takes way longer though and you need a beefier computer. also make sure your overlap is at least 80% front and 70% side when you have shadow issues, helps both platforms a ton

what drone are you using? i had similar issues with my mavic 2 on construction sites until i started flying earlier in the morning or later afternoon when shadows are longer but more consistent. also try bumping up your ISO a bit in the shadowed areas if you can do manual camera settings. not sure if thats causing your processing issues but might be worth checking
