been looking at getting into crop spraying with drones for our 400 acre operation, mostly corn and soybeans. getting tired of dealing with ground rigs in muddy conditions and the compaction issues. anyone running commercial spray drones that can give me some real world feedback? ive been looking at the dji agras t40 but want to make sure im not missing something better. need something that can handle our midwest conditions and actually pay for itself

we've been running a t30 for about 2 seasons now and its been solid overall. the t40 has better flow rates and bigger tank which would be nice for your acreage. only real complaint is battery life could be better but thats pretty much universal with these things. make sure you factor in the cost of getting your part 107 and any state pesticide licensing requirements, that stuff adds up quick

dont overlook the regulations side of things either. depending on your state you might need special endorsements for aerial application. also consider if you want to do your own applications or hire it out to start. we went with a service first to see if the economics worked before buying equipment. saved us from making a expensive mistake honestly
