so i had a pretty hard crash last week into some trees and now motor 3 is running super hot compared to the others. like i can barely touch it after just a few minutes of hovering. the other three feel normal temp wise but this one is almost burning hot

i checked the prop and it spins free, no obvious damage to the bell or anything. ESC temps look normal on my OSD. anyone know what could cause just one motor to overheat like this? im thinking maybe something got bent inside but cant really tell without taking it apart

sounds like you probably bent the shaft or damaged a bearing in that crash. even if it spins free by hand, if the bearings are rough it'll create more resistance and heat up under load. i'd pull that motor and check if the shaft is straight and the bearings feel smooth when you spin it

yeah def sounds like internal damage, had the same thing happen to me after a concrete crash. motor seemed fine but got crazy hot. ended up being a bent shaft that i couldnt see without removing the motor. new motor fixed it right up but you might be able to just replace the bearings if thats all it is
