so ive been flying a tiny hawk for like 6 months now and want to step up to 5 inch. everyone says build your own but honestly looking at something like a nazgul5 or armattan chameleon and wondering if the savings are even worth it anymore. like by the time you buy fc, esc, motors, frame, vtx etc seems like your at the same price point anyway

what did you guys do for your first proper build? feel like im overthinking this but dont want to waste money either direction

honestly for first 5 inch id just get the nazgul and call it a day. yeah you can probably save 50 bucks building but then you gotta tune it, debug random issues, probably break something during the build process. the iflight stuff flies pretty good out of the box and when you inevitably crash it hard at least you know exactly what parts to order for replacement

plus if something doesnt work right away you know its not because you wired something backwards or forgot to solder a joint properly

disagree with above tbh. building teaches you so much about how everything works together and honestly its not that hard if you take your time. i built my first 5 inch last year following joshua bardwells videos and learned way more than i would have just buying prebuilt. when stuff breaks (and it will) youll actually know how to fix it instead of just ordering new parts and hoping

also you can pick exactly the components you want instead of whatever compromise the manufacturer made to hit a price point. my custom build with f7 fc and individual escs has been way more reliable than my buddys prebuilt that uses some weird aio board
