crop spraying drone keeps drifting in wind - any tips?

  • Members

so ive been running this hex setup for spraying soybeans and corn for about 6 months now but im having issues with drift when theres any kind of crosswind above maybe 8mph. using a 10L tank setup and the thing just wants to push around even with gps hold engaged

anyone else deal with this or am i doing something wrong with the tuning? the drift compensation seems pretty basic in the software im using

what flight controller you running? some of the older pixhawk setups dont handle the weight shifts very well when the tank drains. also check your prop balance because unbalanced props get way worse when you add payload

i switched to a cube orange last year and the difference was night and day for heavy lift stability

yeah wind is always gonna be an issue with spraying. most commercial operations wont fly above 10mph winds anyway because of droplet drift not just drone drift. you might want to look into lower pressure nozzles too, bigger droplets handle wind better than fine mist
