so i had a pretty hard crash last week and now one of my motors is running way hotter than the others. its the front right motor and after like 2-3 minutes of flying i can feel the heat through the arm. the other three feel normal temperature

checked the prop for damage and its fine, motor spins freely when i turn it by hand. anyone know what could be causing this? wondering if the crash messed up something internal with the motor or if its the esc thats having issues

sounds like you might have bent the motor shaft slightly or damaged the bearings in the crash. even if it spins freely by hand, the bearings could be creating extra friction under load. try swapping that motor with one from another arm and see if the heat follows the motor or stays with that position

yeah what he said about swapping motors is good troubleshooting. also check your esc calibration and make sure that motor isnt pulling more amps than the others. i had similar issue after a crash and turned out the esc got damaged and was sending inconsistent signals. eventually just replaced both the motor and esc to be safe
