Hey everyone, I've been seeing conflicting information about the DJI ban and I'm getting pretty anxious. I bought my Mini 4 Pro just 6 months ago for my real estate business and now I'm hearing mixed things about whether I can still use it commercially.

From what I understand, existing DJI drones are still legal to use - only new drone approvals are affected. But I keep seeing posts about potential future restrictions and I'm worried about my investment.

Has anyone gotten clear guidance from their insurance company or clients about this? Should I start looking at alternatives or am I overthinking this whole situation?

I'm in the same boat with my Air 2S! My insurance company said as long as I have valid Part 107 certification and the drone was legally purchased, they'll still cover me. DJI has implemented Local Data Mode and stopped automatic flight log syncing for US users, which seems to address some of the security concerns.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's smart long-term. I've already started transitioning to Skydio and Autel for my inspection work. Better to be ahead of the curve than scrambling later when client requirements change or more restrictions come down the pipeline.

You're not overthinking it at all! The ban works through FCC equipment authorization rather than an outright prohibition, which means your current drone should be fine for the foreseeable future. I've been flying commercially for 3 years and my clients haven't said anything about my DJI gear.
