first drone, not sure what im doing wrong

so i got my first drone last week (dji mini 2) and ive been trying to practice but it keeps drifting to the left even when im not touching anything. is this normal or did i mess something up already? also the app keeps telling me to calibrate the compass but i dont really understand what that means or how to do it properly

been watching youtube videos but they all seem to assume you know more than i do. should i be practicing in a specific mode or something? feels like im missing something basic here

yeah i had the same drift issue when i started. make sure youre not flying too close to metal stuff like cars or fences, that can mess with the compass too. also are you letting it get a good gps lock

compass calibration is pretty important, especially if you're flying somewhere new. in the dji app theres usually a section in settings that walks you through it - basically you rotate the drone in specific patterns until it says its done. the drifting could be a few things but id start with compass cal and also check if theres any wind, even light breeze can push the mini around more than you'd expect
