been looking into custom payloads for inspire series and getting conflicting info everywhere. need to carry about 800g of custom sensors for mapping work but not sure which inspire model can handle that kind of extra weight without killing flight time completely

seen some setups with inspire 2 carrying lidar but those were probably stripped down configs. anyone here actually done payload work with these things or am i barking up the wrong tree and need to look at matrice instead

800g is pushing it even for inspire 2. ive done some payload work with mine carrying around 400-500g max and flight time drops to like 15 minutes. at 800g your probably looking at sub 10 minute flights which isnt practical for mapping

honestly for that weight your gonna want to look at m300 or even bigger hex setups. inspire is more for camera payloads really

what kind of sensors are you trying to carry? might be worth looking into lighter alternatives first before switching platforms. some of the newer lidar units are getting pretty compact

also depends on your flight pattern - if your doing automated grid flights then shorter flight times might not matter as much vs manual piloting
